MIND THE GAP

"a new group aiming to provide a safe space for women and men interested in discussing and acting upon issues of gender inequality.

Our mission statement is to actively campaign on issues of gender inequality (such as the pay gap, domestic violence, no means no and positive body image) and to organise successful and well publicised events such as International Women's Day and reclaim the night.

Our structure will consist of fortnightly debates on relevant issues, specific campaign meetings and regular guest speakers. We will also exist as an e-group for people who can't regularly attend meetings but would like to stay socially or politically involved.

It is central to our belief that gender equality will make the world a better place for all to live in.

We have meetings on alternative Wednesdays at 8.00 at Shot in The Dark on city road.

Don't be shy. We are looking forwards to hearing what you have to say!"

GREYHOUND RESCUE WALES WEBSITE
GRW has found homes for hundreds of greyhounds and lurchers. Unfortunately there are also some that cannot be rehomed because of their awful past experiences and these become "long-term residents" who are cared for permanently by foster carers. This is how you can help provide a home for life for one of these dogs.

SPONSOR A DOG SCHEME
We currently have four dogs in need of extra care and attention and would love to have you as a sponsor. You can now see them on the "Sponsor a Dog - Photos" page from the menu on the left.

For less than £1 per week you can help unwanted and abused greyhounds get the love and care that they so desperately need.
In return for your ongoing support you will receive a certificate and photograph of your dog along with two updates each year.
Sponsorship of a dog makes an original gift for anyone who cares about animals.
To become a dog sponsor or if you have any questions please contact: Sandra Morris on 01646 651262.

'A great portrait of a dislocated mind ... absorbing, moving and funny.'Lesley Glaister

'Dryly captures the madness and the sadness of families through this perfectly observed account.'Marina Lewycka, author of A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian

'At the end of Other Useful Numbers, Tracy, the narrator says "at least that's how I remember it." Tracy, a bed-hopping, kleptomaniac lost soul who at the start of the book " can't see beyond (her) next packet of cigarettes," has been on a journey, both external and internal, searching for clues that might lead her to her missing ex-lover, Anita. But the clues never quite match up and her memories are unreliable - shockingly so, it turns out.'
