1st September 1905 Evening Express “SEALS OFF THE CARDIGAN COAST. A remarkable scene was witnessed near Cardigan Island on Thursday afternoon, where, amidst the choppy sea, a shoal of seals made their appearance within twenty yards of the mainland. Several single specimens having been shot during the last few years by visitors at Gwbert, these mammals have not recently frequented this part of the Welsh coast in any great numbers. On this occasion they were unmolested.”
