POPPIT SANDS

POPPIT SANDS

30th July 1892 The Cardigan Observer and General Advertiser for the Counties of Cardigan Carmarthen and Pembroke “SCHOOL TREATOn Wednesday last, favoured with beautiful weather, the St. Mary’s day and Sunday schools and congregation had their annual treat at Poppit. Having formed into a procession at the National School, each child bearing a bannerette, they wended their way through the streets of the town, preceded by the brass band, to Bridge-end, where vehicles, boats, &c., awaited them to convey them to the sands. A substantial dinner and tea was provided. During the day the usual games and amusements were freely indulged in, and all passed off without a hitch. The fine weather and the attraction to Poppit nearly depopulated the town.“ newspapers.library.wales
