“As to Sul Coch y Mwnt” and its customs which were continued till the- last century, lit is Stated that. 1115 a lot of Flemings landed on the beach near the Church and a conflict took place between them and the Welsh. The Flemings, after a hard fight, were almost every one killed and their bodies were buried in a piece of waste land near the Church where a large quantity of bones can ( even now be dug up at any time. “Sul Coch y Mwnt” was intended to commemorate the bloody battle which took place there, and the assembly was held on the first Sunday in January.
